There was talk of establishing Japan Section in 2019, but it was postponed due to COVID-19.
Discussions resumed in April 2022 with the direction of establishing Japan Section.
On February 25, 2023, the chairpersons of KICS from Korea came to Tokyo and the Japan Section was established.
On August 10-11, 2023, the KICS JAPAN Summer Workshop was held in Sapporo, Hokkaido with the following theme.
“6G Research Trend with Related Topics in Korea and Japan”
International workshop IWMCA2024 (The first Workshop on Mobile Communications and Applications) will be held on August 11-13, 2024 in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
Promotion of "Korea-Japan Joint Projects”
A possible example of a "Korea-Japan Joint Project" would be a joint
project by 6G-related parties in Korea and Japan.
Another example would be the realization of “Korea-Japan free roaming”
which will be like the “roam like home” in EU.
Cooperation with IEICE (The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers) which has the sister relationship with KICS.
